Q: What is a DXF file?

DXF is the most widely used standard format for exchanging data between different 3D vector graphics and drawing applications. Initially introduced for AutoCAD, DXF quickly became a de facto standard, universally adopted in the field of technical drawings. It is a textual representation of the database of each drawing, containing all the objects (graphical and non-graphical) and the necessary settings to recreate the exact starting situation of the drawing in a CAD.
