What is a DXF file?
DXF is the most widely used standard format for exchanging data between different 3D vector graphics and drawing applications.
Initially introduced for AutoCAD, DXF quickly became a de facto standard, universally adopted in the field of technical drawings.
It is a textual representation of the database of each drawing, containing all the objects (graphical and non-graphical) and the necessary settings to recreate the exact starting situation of the drawing in a CAD.
A DXF not only contains the elements that make up the actual drawing, but also all the hatch pattern tables, colour palettes, layers, views, dimension styles, the parameters that specify with which program it was created, how it should be viewed together with preview images.
